On Sunday, December 15th, a notoriously busy weekend of the year, I will be serving up some good old fashioned slow down medicine. Wink wink…. Teatime anyone?
Lisa Koep of Sacred Space Interior Design is offering her cozy whimsical space at “Fairhaven” for a Lapis Sky Tea Tasting.
The general flow
Just to be clear. This offering is not a formal tea ceremony. It will however provide some tools to support noticing the subtle nuances of flavors arriving on the pallet. Mostly it will feel like a mixture of mindful intention, playfulness, and a bit of experimentation. We must!
-> We will start with a guided drop-in of both body and place to open our sensory channels.
-> The guided somatic entry will be followed by a pour of 4 Lapis Sky non-caffeinated herbal tea blends.
-> Each of the four tastings will accompany a generous pause for jotting down flavor notes and any other sensory messages wanting to surface.
-> After the tastings I will share the ingredients of each blend.
I will also share why the plants were selected and how they together support the body/mind while also recognizing we are all individuals coming in with our own constitution, elemental affinities, needs, and preferences. And thank goodness for those differences!
-> Our time will conclude with a relaxed exchange of our tasting experience and other organic conversation topics arising in the moment.
More than just tasting
This gathering is an invitation to become enchanted with the plants of our home. Plants that drink the same water, breath the same air, and grow from same soil as us. Plants as local as we are.
The herbal tea blends we will be tasting are formulated from plants grown either on my urban lot in downtown Coeur d’Alene or foraged from the mountains of North Idaho.
While this approach is more labor intensive than ordering from afar, keeping it local is an exciting challenge and provides us with a taste of our terroir - the characteristics of place, encompassing soil, climate, water, and relationship.
How to attend
The group size will be small. You will need to send an RSVP email to hold your spot. This is not a drop-in event.
Cost: This offering is free however I will have bundles of single cup herbal tea bags (super rad stocking stuffers!) and herb-infused castor oil pack gift boxes available for purchase.
