Yellow Dock
Rumex crispus
Riding by an open field we spot Yellow Dock's iron red seed stalk shooting up like red flames a few inches above the rest of the grasses on the landscape. Symbolic of the fiery lioness, this powerful plant ally lends fierce support to the heart and cardiovascular system, as seen in the heart signature on the seed.
Standing upright like an autumnal mascot, Yellow Dock holds amber russet shades long into winter and even extends those hues throughout spring and summer. A colorfast trait rarely seen within the other seasonal plant turnings. A signature - an indicator of the rich nutrient found within its leaf, seeds, and roots.
In this upcoming Lapis Sky offering participants will deepen their understanding of Yellow Dock (Rumex crispus) by examining ki’s unfolding growth patterns, texture, taste, and ecological niche found within the rich tapestry of our human and non-human community.
creating art with the body
Through the use of charcoal and paper, we will draw inspiration from Yellow Dock by immersing ourselves in a body/presence-centered, movement and drawing practice.
Waking and shaping the imaginal.
Charcoal and paper are the mediums.
Our body is the instrument.
With our extremities, we will play with arcing movements tracing the patterns arising within us at the moment. No rules apply.
What to expect:
We will begin our time as we normally do with a guided meditation and story followed by a sensory experience with medicinal syrup wildcrafted from the root of Yellow Dock.
We will follow with a short movement meditation.
Next, we will shift to a large piece of paper and charcoal where we will sit or kneel on our individual pieces of paper and begin drawing patterns that emanate from our center. From the core. Individual patterns might take the shape of a seed, energy mandalas, or sacred geometry. Again, no rules apply.
A special song list will play to help us tap into our inspirations.
To conclude, we will sip tea, exchange story, and simply enjoy one another’s presence.
Participants can take home their drawings. Perhaps an interesting zoom meeting background!
This offering is open to all genders.
No dance or movement background is necessary. Come as you are.
Space and supplies are limited.
