Arrowleaf balsamroot

  • Meadowbrook Community Hall 8088 W Meadowbrook Loop Coeur d'Alene United States (map)

Settle in by the warm wood stove…

at the historic Meadowbrook Hall located just a few minutes outside of town. Allow the warmth to envelop you as we spiral inward and steep ourselves in the healing essence and lore of 3 local plant allies.

This offering is the first in a 3-part series. Participants are welcome to attend one or all three. See registration details below.

arrowleaf balsamroot

We will start our time together with a guided meditation and sensory exploration with a focus on the plant Arrowleaf Balsamroot. Before we ask, “What can we use this plant for?” we will take in the greater essence of the plant and its role in our ecological home place. This involves its growing preferences, energetics, taste, smell, and structure - all of which make up the plant’s unique signature and overall character.

After acquainting ourselves with the Arrowleaf Balsamroot we will then move our physical bodies following simple sequences of choreography inspired by the plant signature via WildCore™ movement. WildCore incorporates a blend of choreography, conscious dance, breath-work, and belonging designed to awaken our inner dancer, enliven our well-being, and inspire self-healing.

Different than performance dance, which is what we normally see and experience on the mainstream level, WildCore incorporates patterns and free-form movement to explore the inner territory of the body. When we allow ourselves to detach from the idea of dance as a means of attracting attention or approval (doing steps “right”), we find a powerful medicine for removing conscious and sometimes unconscious energetic blockages in the body.

To end our time together we will circle up to carve and personalize a digging stick for take-home. The digging stick is a surprisingly useful tool for the ethical harvesting of Arrowleaf Balsamroot. The ending circle is an opportunity to connect with other women, sip herbal tea, and participate in purposeful hands-on wildcrafting.

Note: All Lapis Sky offerings aim to create a safe container of space to dance unencumbered by perfection and self-judgment. Open to all levels. No dance background is necessary. Come as you are. Read more about Lapis Sky + WildCore movement.
