Settle in by the warm wood stove…
at the historic Meadowbrook Hall located just a few minutes outside of town. Allow the warmth to envelop you as we spiral inward and steep ourselves in the healing essence and lore of 3 local plant allies.
Note: This offering is the first in a three-part series. Participants are welcome to attend one or all three. See registration details below.
usnea
Lungs of The Forest
A special symbiosis of mushrooms and algae, Usnea is not actually plant. With no roots – no direct connection to the earth – it has a close relationship with the Air element.
Walking into a forest you see its silvery green draping threads; there is a feeling of being in the presence of something old and ethereal… the word primordial comes to mind.
Usnea is the first of our three-part series “Tending the Internal Waters”. Commonly known as “old man’s beard”, Usnea has many healing properties. It offers powerful antimicrobial support for the lungs, is a toxin clearing remedy for the lymphatic system, and is an overall immune boost for the whole body.
In this upcoming offering, we will orient our senses to the more subtle qualities of Usnea by examining its growing preferences, signatures, patterns, and essence.
This will look like:
meditation, focused breath, and sacred story
sensory exploration with wildcrafted tea
kinesthetic learning and plant pattern recognition through a somatic movement practice called WildCore™.
WildCore incorporates a blend of choreography, conscious dance, breath-work, and belonging, which naturally awakens our inner dancer, enlivens our well-being, and inspires self-healing.
In this time together we will gently spiral inward to plumb the depths of dark, explore our inner wilderness of self, and relish the last beautiful big-handed pardon of winter’s closing.
Note: All Lapis Sky offerings aim to create a safe container of space to dance unencumbered by perfection and self-judgment. Open to all levels. No dance background is necessary. Come as you are.
